Little known in Europe, but a top service for more than a decade over the ocean, the AIM messenger service will end in December 2017, After 20 years of operation. During which he joined tens of millions of users in the United States but also from other parts of the world.

The announcement was even made by the company Oath, the one who, following the merger between Verizon with AOL, also took over the AIM service. Like a bracket, Oath is a subsidiary of Verizon, which at the beginning of these year took over a good part of Yahoo! Including Yahoo! Messenger.

The closing process of AIM started from March 2017, when access to third parties were withdrawn in AIM. Remaining only the Messenger chat service inside the application.

It is not known whether the OATH will keep the AIM brand or if it will be transferred to another messenger service adapted to the current market requirements.
