It has been speculated a lot at the beginning of 2024 on the likelihood of Apple to launch new generations of Airpods Pro and Airpods Max, but most rumors indicate a new generation Airpods 4 that will be launched towards the end of this year. These models will be launched in two variants and will have some different specifications, which will also lead to a price difference between them.

What will the new generation Airpods 4 bring?
As an absolute novelty is the launch of two models simultaneously, from the same generation. AirPods 4 will be launched in two versions, the main difference between them being the active cancellation of the noise (Active Noise Cancellation) on the top model. Both AirPods 4 models will benefit from a redesigned design, which will include USB-C ports instead of lightning, and shorter rods, similar to those from AirPods Pro.
In addition, they are expected to provide a better fit in the ear and improved audio quality. Another important aspect is the integration of a H2 chip, which promises a faster and more reliable connectivity, thanks to Bluetooth 5.3, but also an increased energy efficiency, which could lead to a longer battery life.
As I said before, the top model of the new AirPods 4 will also include the active noise cancellation (ANC), so far only on the more expensive variants. It will also be more accessible than Airpods Pro, which are priced at $ 249, but will not have all the premium functions, such as silicone peaks. Another interesting feature of this model will be the presence of a speaker in the loading housing, which can play a sound to facilitate the location of the headphones through the Find My function.
What follows for AirPods 2 and AirPods 3?
The new generation Airpods 4 that will be launched in September or October 2024 will mark, the end for Airpods 2 and AirPods 3. AirPods 2, available since 2019, have been an entry-level option, being appreciated for their simplicity and affordable price, often below $ 90. However, they do not offer revolutionary functions, being rather basic wireless headphones.
On the other hand, AirPods 3, launched in 2021, brought notable improvements, including space audio (spatial audio), strength sensors and wireless loading with the Apple Watch charger. They were marketed at a starting price of $ 179, while AirPods 2 remained available at a low price of $ 129.

When will the new generation Airpods Pro 3 be launched?
The first generation Airpods Pro was launched in the autumn of 2019, followed by the second generation three years later, in the autumn of 2022.
