Just a few days before iOS 12 was presented to the public, Apple released an important update for iOS 11.

iOS 11.4 brings a series of news for owners of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices compatible with iOS 11, among which, the most important are: Messages in iCloud, AirPlay 2 and HomePod Stereo pairing.

Messages in iCloud
An option long awaited by iPhone and iPad owners, which Apple has been testing since the second half of last year. Messages in iCloud was repeatedly included on beta versions of iOS 11, but withdrawn each time. On iOS 11.4 this will remain a permanent option, through which users I can store messages (SMS, iMessages) in the iCloud account.
The big advantage is that next to it synchronization on all devices where we have the same Apple account logged in, "Messages in iCloud" will also reduces the occupied space on devices with pictures, videos or others media files sent / received via iMessages. They will remain stored in iCloud and will be downloaded to the device only at the request of the user. Therefore, we will have more storage space available on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

AirPlay 2
This is the most important update in our opinion, for the owners of audio devices connected wirelessly to the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. With the new AirPlay 2, users have the possibility to play music on several devices simultaneously, located in the same house. AirPlay 2 also comes with support for voice control through Siri. With this option you can make voice commands to all devices connected via AirPlay 2. The voice command can be given from iPhone, iPad, HomePod or Apple TV.

The user has the possibility to take a voice call without interrupting the content played through AirPlay 2. This is independent of the calling functions and is very easily controlled from Control Center, even if the device is blocked.

HomePod – Suport Stereo
The smart speaker from Apple is advancing more and more. With the new iOS update, multiple speakers can be connected from a single iPhone or iPad HomePod simultaneously offering a stereo sound experience.
HomePod synchronized speakers will be able to automatically establish their position in the room and balance the sound depending on the positioning of the speakers.

iOS 11.4 is available for download and installation via "Settings" → "General" → "Software Update". Compatibility on all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches with support for iOS 11.

I've been writing passionately since 2004 about Windows and Linux operating systems, and since 2010 I've become a fan of Apple University. I'm currently writing tutorials for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and other Apple devices.
