Apple has released the next operating system iOS 17 for all compatible iPhone devices. As expected, many of the rumors have been confirmed, but there are also quite a few absolute new things that were not talked about at all until the official presentation. Let's see what's new and features iOS 17, which include the new app Journal and Standby mode.
Table of Contents
News and features iOS 17
As I said in the introduction and as anticipated, Apple users will have a personal diary application.
application Journal FROM iOS 17
Journaling is a new way to reflect and relive special moments. Record your thoughts about big life events or everyday activities. Add details to any note with photos, music, audio recordings and more. Mark important moments and revisit them later to discover new meanings or set new goals.

It is if you want a return to the classic diary of adolescence, in a digital form where we enjoy the benefits of technology.
With on-device machine learning, iPhone creates personalized suggestions of moments to remember and write about based on your photos, music, workouts and more.
The Journal app for iPhone will be released in the coming months.
Standby – Landscape mode with support Night Mode
StandBy gives you easy-to-view information, designed to be observed from a distance.

Leave your iPhone on your nightstand or desk in landscape mode, and when it's charging, Standby can be activated and customized.

For Standby mode you can add widgets with clock, calendar, reminder, photos, weather, plus many others. It allows enabling Night Mode to reduce user distraction during the night.
NameDrop – Quick exchange of phone numbers
A new feature that allows users to exchange phone numbers by simply bringing the two iPhones (or iPhone close to the Apple Watch) close together.

Both users will be able to select the specific phone numbers or email addresses they want to share,
The NameDrop feature works with AirDrop, which also comes with new capabilities with the release of iOS 17.
By simply bringing two devices together, using AirDrop, you can quickly transfer music or a movie that is playing at that moment (SharePlay).
Live Voicemail
I think the Live Voicemail option can be put at the top among the news and features of iOS 17.
With Live Voicemail, you can view a real-time transcript of the message someone is leaving you as they speak, giving you immediate context for the call. If it's something you want to address right away, you can pick up the call at any time while the person is still on the phone.

I find it to be a very useful feature in the scenario where someone calls you and you can't answer the phone, but you want to know in real time what voice message they are giving you.
This option, through which you can see the real-time transcription of a message received in voicemail, is available in English for the US and Canada.
FaceTime – Record Video or Audio Message
A new FaceTime feature that allows users to let video or audio messages recorded when the called party is not available.

Video messages can be composed with all the video effects present in normal FaceTime video calls.
iMessages – Stickers & Messages
For the Messages application and the iMessage service, we cannot say that very important news have been brought.
Added support for replying to messages in conversations with a simple swipe. In the same way as with the WhatsApp application.
The ability to extract elements from a picture and turn them into Live Stickers.
Transcription of audio messages received in conversations.
Live location sharing. This will be able to be watched live directly in the conversation.
