In a recently made post on the X network (eg Twitter), Openai has announced that the official Chatgpt application is now available for all users. Chatgpt is not a novelty on Mac computers. The previous version of the application was launched towards the end of spring, but was only available for users who had a Chatgpt Plus subscription.
Openai says that the Chatgpt application for macos, aims to facilitate users' access to the power of artificial intelligence, without the need for third applications or access the official page of Chatgpt. Now, users can ask questions about emails, screenshots, websites and other Mac contents, simple and fast. With the installed Chatgpt application, all you have to do is press the Option + Space key combination to open the chat interface and interact with chatgpt.
I tested the new official Chatgpt Desktop app on Mac, and I can say that it offers a very intuitive interface.
The Chatgpt application for Mac comes with a built -in voice module, which allows natural vocal conversations with Chatgpt, as well as a search feature to quickly access previous conversations. All these options are available without a need for a subscription plan to use Chatgpt on Mac. Openai has decided to offer free the latest version of Chatgpt, GPT-4o, for a limited number of requests, leaving users without a subscription to have the best performing artificial intelligence model.
How do you install the official Chatgpt app for macos
1. Download the latest version of Chatgpt Desktop for Mac of Openai's official page.
2. Open the downloaded file. (ChatGPT_Desktop_public_latest.dmg).
3. In the interface that opens, draw the icon of the Chatgpt application to copy it into the Applications folder.
After this step, the official Chatgpt application is installed on Macos. Open Apply and Authenticate to be able to use it.
In the MacOS menu bar, click on the Chatgpt icon to have access to all the application settings.

Personally, I think after this launch of the Desktop Chatgpt app for the MAC by Openai, many applications in the App Store will not find their place. Of course, it is about applications that use GPT API.
