After launching the final version IOS 17.4, it was a period of a few until Apple launched the first beta versions of the Beta IOS 17.5 operating systems, iPados 17.5, Macos 14.5, Visionos 1.2 and Watchos 10.5.

For many Apple devices users, this update does not bring much news and performance improvements, but it is the first beta version of some systems that promise new features and future Apple devices.

Installation of iPhone apps from web to beta iOS 17.5

A very important feature of iOS 17.5 is for iPhone owners in the European Union, which will be able to install web applications and games, without being conditioned by the App Store. This change comes from the regulations imposed by the European Commission, by which Apple is obliged to accept the installation of applications and games from third parties on iPad and iPhone.

The Beta IOS 17.5 version is the first to support "web distribution", where developers can provide iOS applications directly through their own websites, without being obliged to publish them through the App Store.

In order to use this function, developers will have to opt for the new commercial conditions of the App Store, which means they will pay a fee (Core Technology Fee) for each first annual installation over one million in the last 12 months.

Also, in order to be able to control the security for the iPhone devices and the confidential data of the users, any application distributed via the web will need to comply with Apple's notarizing guides. Applications can only be installed from a web domain that the developer has registered in the App Store Connect. Apple also offers you a number of APIs for integration with the functionality of the developer system.

Although the first Beta IOS 17.5 version lays the foundations for this feature, there are currently no developers who offer their applications through this new web distribution function. This may change until May, when iOS 17.5 will be launched to the general public in the final version.
