Apple recently released macOS 15.2 RC (Release Candidate), for all Mac users testing the public beta versions. The new version will be available starting next week for all users and comes with many new features, improvements and apps. ChatGPT integration with Siri through Apple Intelligence and Image Playground are just some of the new features that will be introduced on macOS Sequoia 15.2.

Apple Intelligence apps and features (Mac with Apple silicon)
Image Playground in macOS 15.2 RC
A new app that lets you create fun and creative images using concepts, descriptions or people from your photo library. I played with this app and found it very funny and at the same time a resource of inspiration and creativity. The app uses Apple Intelligence technology and is only compatible with Mac computers with an Apple Silicon (M) chip.

Here's what's new in macOS 15.2 RC for the Image Playground app:
- Browse through previews and choose options as you add elements to your virtual scene.
- Select animation or illustration styles for your images.
- Create images directly in Messages, Freeform, or third-party apps.
- Sync images in your Image Playground library across all your devices via iCloud.

Support for ChatGPT
- OpenAI's ChatGPT is accessible directly from Siri or Writing Tools.
- The "Compose" function in Writing Tools allows you to create content from scratch using ChatGPT. This feature was also available in public betas prior to macOS 15.2 RC.
- Siri can use ChatGPT for relevant and complex responses in languages not normally supported by Siri.
- A ChatGPT account is not required and your requests remain anonymous and will not be used to train OpenAI models.
- If you sign in with a ChatGPT account, you get additional functionality according to OpenAI's data policies.

New features added in Apple Intelligence
With macOS 15.2 RC, the "Describe your change" function was added in Writing Tools, it allows you to suggest how to reformulate a text, for example in the form of a poem, formally or more friendly.
Photos app
Apple has made the favorite photo album more accessible to users and allows the history to be deleted from recently viewed and recently shared photo albums.
- The Favorites album now appears in the Utilities collection in addition to Pinned Collections.
- The history of Recently Viewed and Recently Shared albums can be deleted.
Safari
A few small updates should also be noted for Safari, both for the visual part and for security:
- New wallpapers to customize your Safari home page.
- HTTPS Enhancement: Try to use HTTPS connections on all sites.
- Simplified import and export for history, bookmarks and passwords.
Additional improvements and fixes on macOS 15.2 RC
Locate items in Find My: Enables easy and secure sharing of the location of an AirTag or accessory on the Find My network with trusted third parties such as airlines.
Native search in Apple Music and the Apple TV app: You can describe what you're looking for using categories such as genres, states, actors or decades.
Favorite categories in Podcasts: Allows you to select your favorite categories for quick recommendations in your Library.
Custom search page in Podcasts: Highlight the most relevant categories and editorial collections tailored to your interests.
Sudoku for News+: Sudoku puzzles in three difficulty levels, available to News+ subscribers.
Preview for presenters: Choose what to share — an app or the entire screen — before connecting an external display or using AirPlay.
Pre-market quotes in Shares: Tracks NASDAQ and NYSE tickers before the market opens.
Weather in the menu bar: Quickly access current weather conditions and detailed forecasts directly from the menu bar.
This is just some of the improvements that macOS 15.2 RC brings to Mac users, preparing to transform the user experience into a more intuitive and enjoyable one.
The final version of macOS 15.2 is expected to be released within the next week, most likely on December 17, 2024. Also expected on that date are the final versions of iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, for which RC beta versions have also been released.
