For Mac users, the pictures can be stored both in the system bookstore, from where they can be synchronized by iCloud, or new bookstores can be created. However, there are some risks. Error exporting photos from the Photos application to Mac is quite common, especially if the export is made from bookstores created on older macos versions.
Normally, when a Photos application bookstore is made on an older macos version, it will take a while until it is updated and it can be opened on a newer macos version. The waiting time is based on the hardware resources of the MAC device and the number of photos and video in the updated photo bookstore.
A pretty serious problem is when you try to export photos and video from the older bookstores of the Photos application.
