With the passage of the Microsoft Edge browser to the Chromium engine, it has borrowed many features of Google Chrome. Just run both on the same support.

Among the features borrowed by Microsoft Edge from Chrome, are also The option of translating web pages visited, if they are written in a language other than that of the operating system or browser.

This option can be quite disturbing, especially if we prefer to keep the operating system in a different language than the mother. For example, many users prefer to keep the operating system and applications in English, although this is not their native or official language.
For this reason, Microsoft Edge Chromium will automatically provide the option to translate the web pages visited, if they are not in English.

Fortunately, this option can be definitively disabled for all the web pages visited, regardless of the language in which they are written.

How we disable the translation of web pages on Microsoft Edge Chromium

1. We go to Microsoft Edge Chromium At the three suspension points for the option menu, then to "Settings“.

2. We go to the menu from the left to "Languages"Then we disable the option"Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language you read“.

After you disable this option, you will no longer be asked if you want translating a web page visited.

Tutorial is made on macos with Microsoft Edge Chromium, but most likely in the same way it is deactivated on the dedicated version Windows 10.

I've been writing passionately since 2004 about Windows and Linux operating systems, and since 2010 I've become a fan of Apple University. I'm currently writing tutorials for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, and other Apple devices.

  1. I would like to know how I can get the Translator icon in the address bar again. It has suddenly disappeared for some reason.
The slider that you spoke about is on, but I will not get any offers to get translations.
Websites written in English are not translated into Dutch

  2. Unfortunately, the browser translates even if it is wrong or very misleading. Example:
“Guidad Visning Svenska” is translated to “leadership English” (“leadership Swedish” would have been correct).
So be careful with this function!

  3. Thanks a lot. I got sick of looking for different additional extensions for translating pages into Russian, then they first work, and then again, as I understand it because of this built-in expansion, they stop working. Now I have tried different foreign pages and is doing everything perfectly now.
